NWRA, EREF announce coal ash forum

Conference aims to serve as a platform for utility and waste management sectors on how to manage coal ash beneficially or in a landfill setting.

Washington-based National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA) and the Environmental Research and Education Foundation (EREF), based in Raleigh, North Carolina, have announced a Coal Ash Management Forum for July 21-22, 2016, in Charlotte, North Carolina.

“The conference aims to be a forum where both the utility and waste management sectors can share ideas, research, operations strategies and case studies on how to manage coal ash beneficially or in a landfill setting,” the groups say.

NWRA and EREF say opportunities to better understand challenges in how coal combustion residuals on the power generation side will be discussed as will experiences from existing landfill owners and management companies.

This forum is geared toward engineers, landfill managers, ash managers, as well as the consultants and suppliers that provides solutions for managing coal ash.

NWRA is the trade association representing private sector U.S. waste and recycling companies, as well as the manufacturers and service providers that do business with those companies. Association members operate in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. NWRA’s members consist of large publicly traded companies and both small and large privately owned companies.

EREF is a nonprofit charity that funds and directs scientific research and educational initiatives for waste management practices to benefit industry participants and the communities they serve. The foundation is one of the largest sources of solid waste research funding in the U.S.
