BioHiTech Global Inc., Chestnut Ridge, New York, launched its BioHiTech Alto technology that enables users to communicate intelligently with industrial equipment in real-time.

BioHiTech Alto is a key new component of BioHiTech's comprehensive food waste solution that uses data and analytics to help drive smarter business decisions. The Alto software is designed to enhance the productivity of the company's Eco-Safe digester by enabling real-time communication to improve unit performance levels, processing statistics and maintenance routines via a secured internet connection on any standard computer or mobile device. The platform can easily be expanded to provide a whole new way for people to communicate actionable information with any internet-enabled industrial equipment.

“We are pleased to introduce this exciting new technology that we believe will jumpstart the adoption of internet-enabled industrial equipment; not only for our own products, but for any piece of industrial machinery,” says Bill Kratzer, chief technology officer of BioHiTech Global. “Alto uses messaging and chatbot technology to reduce the friction that is typically associated with industrial equipment monitoring, management and control. Through this technology, we believe that we can not only make our machines smarter, but also help make our customers smarter by empowering them with better and smarter interactions that deliver more meaningful insights.”

BioHiTech Alto is now available to all BioHiTech customers through its BioHiTech Cloud, the company's waste analytics platform, and currently supports both text and chat communication. BioHiTech’s on-site Eco-Safe digester, which diverts food waste from landfills, is already an internet-connected machine equipped with an on-board scale that weighs food waste each time it is added, determining where, when and what food waste is being disposed. The company's future plans for Alto include integration with BioHiTech Cirrus, its recently introduced mobile analytics app, as well as Slack, a popular real-time messaging and collaboration platform.

“We are always striving to provide our customers more impactful ways to make the waste data generated by our machinery more useful and actionable. BioHiTech Alto is yet another tool for customers to get the insight they need to better manage and reduce their waste output,” says Frank E. Celli, CEO of BioHiTech Global. “We also believe Alto has the potential to create a significant, additional revenue stream for the company outside of our own core business by revolutionizing the way any internet-enabled industrial equipment communicates with end users to increase productivity. We look forward to the rollout of Alto with our current customer base and to the future opportunities that may arise from the development of this important new technology.”
