The Renewable Energy from Waste Conference, Nov. 16-18 at the Caribe Royale in Orlando, Florida, will feature some of the top companies in the U.S. that are including waste conversion and waste to energy as part of their strategies for sustainability and zero-waste-to-landfill.
The session, titled, “Smart Business - A Look at Industrial Applications for RDF and Waste Conversion” is moderated by Renewable Energy from Waste Editor Kristin Smith and features the following speakers:
- Audrey Templeton, corporate environmental manager, MillerCoors
- Aaron Garcia, director of alternative fuels and operations support, Cemex
- Jeff Wooster, global sustainability director, Dow Packaging and Specialty Plastics
MillerCoors’ Milwaukee Brewery and corporate offices are landfill free. The brewer eliminated 65 tons of waste that were previously sent to landfill each month from its brewery and corporate offices, logging its first landfill-free month in December 2014.
Cemex uses many forms of waste-derived fuels as a coal alternative to power its kilns, and Dow Packaging and Specialty Plastics was part of a pilot program to divert nonrecyclable waste into crude oil among other initiatives.
Businesses that can use the waste they generate as a resource are leading the sustainability movement in the U.S. You'll get to hear the unique ways these companies are using waste conversion technologies to power their operations and reduce their environmental footprint. They join more than two dozen speakers who will be presenting at the REW Conference.
