Rimini Fiera, host of the Italian sustainability events Ecomondo and Key Energy, is hosting a one-day seminar focusing on the Italian biogas market on 7 November, at the Rimini Fiera expo center in Rimini, Italy. The event is co-located with the Ecomondo and Key Energy events, set for 5-8 November.

The seminar is being promoted by the Italian Biogas and Gasification Consortium (CIB) and the Italian Consortium of Composters (CIC), along with the coordination and support of the Technical-Scientific Committees of both expos. The conference organizer reports that the one-day event is designed to combine, for the first time, the experiences of the agricultural and organic waste cycles in one event.

According to Rimini Fiera, Italy’s biogas plants have increased in number by around 80 percent since 2010, now numbering more than 1,000 installed plants generating close to 1,000 megawatts of energy, and making Italy one of the top European renewable energy markets.

Event organizers say the event is dedicated to all aspects of biogas, including coverage of the biogas supply chain and current initiatives to share knowledge between the agricultural and organic waste sectors.

Along with support from CIB and CIC, participants include the International Solid Waste Association, International Energy Agency, European Biogas Association, European Compost Network, Federambiente, Confagricoltura, Itabia, CRPA, ENEA and the Chimica Verde (Green Chemistry) Association.

The meeting also will cover biogas technologies from both the waste supply chain as well as from agriculture, along with in-depth coverage of technical and strategic issues connected with suppliers and the production of biogas.

Sessions are divided according to the various types of feedstock used for biogas production, enabling coverage of production processes, regulations involved and commercial options for boosting the value of the end products. Development prospects and biogas innovation will also be discussed.

Also part of the Ecomondo event is the Sustainable City project, a set occupying 6,000 square meters of expo space designed as a model sustainable city, showing solutions, technologies and designs intended to improve the quality of citizens´ lives and favor the development of areas with a sustainable efficient slant. The project involves support from numerous universities and corporate sponsors.
