Stephen Cole will lead organics recycling and energy company.
Synagro Technologies, based in Baltimore, has announced Stephen W. Cole has been named president and CEO, bringing significant experience leading public, private and private equity organizations of international scope.

Cole offers executive experience leading sales, marketing, manufacturing operations, business development and logistics functions within all stages of the business cycle, according to Synagro.
Previously, he served as an industrial advisor for EQT Holdings/EQT Partners (www.eqt.se/). Prior to his time at EQT, he was president and CEO of SVM Inc., a $400 million chemicals company with 800 employees.
Cole holds a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from Oregon State University and attended Columbia University’s Executive Education Programs in finance and marketing.
Synagro Technologies also announced that Mary Lynn Smedinghoff has joined the company as vice president and chief human resources officer. Smedinghoff will be responsible for developing the strategic direction and formulation of all company human resource policies, procedures, systems and initiatives in alignment with the strategic direction and expansion of Synagro.
Smedinghoff most recently served as executive vice president, chief human resources officer with the waste management company Veolia Environnement.
