Two attorneys and an economist will be presenting information on distributing power from alternative energy projects at a webinar taking place Wednesday, Sept. 9, from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
Attorneys Joe Hall and Bob Anderson from the Minneapolis-based law firm Dorsey & Whitney and economist Phil Hanser from the Brattle Group, Cambridge, Massachusetts, will focus on several issues relating to the successful and cost-effective deployment of distributed power generation.
According to the organizers of the webinar, topics discussed during the event will include:
- growth of distributed generation over the last 10 years;
- impact of the EPA Carbon Plan;
- the economics of local, community and utility-scale distributed generation;
- operational benefits and concerns;
- recent developments in rate design for feed-in tariffs and net metering;
- legal issues (public utility status, retail wheeling, PURPA (Public Utilities Regulatory Policy Act), curtailment rights and privacy issues); and
- project finance and development.
Presenter Bob Anderson is the chair of Dorsey & Whitney’s Cleantech Industry Group and has worked with developers, bankers and strategic partners on the financing and development of biomass, waste-to-energy, bio-fuel, wind and solar facilities, according to the webinar’s organizers. His colleague Joseph Hall also has experience representing independent power producers and industrial customers.
Phil Hanser of the Brattle Group has asssited clients in issues ranging from market power and associated regulatory questions to operational and strategic issues such as transmission pricing and generation planning.
