Meat processing facility and agricultural contractor will start up new plants.
Weltec Biopower, based in the U.K., reports that two of its Weltec plants are expected to commence operations in the U.K. in the near future.
Foyle Food Group in Londonderry, Northern Ireland, is expected to start operations of its 500-kilowatt anaerobic digestion plant. The 3,000-cubic-meter stainless-steel digesters will be fed with waste from the industrial meat processing facility. For the system, Weltec has integrated a hygienisation unit, a 530 cubic meter digestate storage unit and its MultiMix input system.
In addition, the company’s new agricultural 500-kW biogas plant in Leicester makes use of a conventional mix of renewable raw materials. The operator, an agricultural contractor, primarily uses maize silage as substrate.
Weltec reports that it has worked with a nationwide network of sales partners in the U.K. since 2005. The company also services energy from waste plants, and maintains an inventory of spare and wear parts at its warehouse, says Chris Jellet, Weltec’s sales manager.
“Our service offer is independent of the plant manufacturer and expressly targets the entire U.K. biogas market,” Jellet explains.
Jellet says the inventory warehouse is designed to assist operators in the event of an emergency.
“To us, customer proximity is a key concern.” Additionally, WELTEC operates a lab service to allow for monitoring services and uninterrupted biological fermentation processes. Weltec says it supplies all needed components for its waste plants, from substrate processing to input systems.
The company says it is prepared for a growing number of U.K. biogas plants, as the country is part of the 202020 Network. Countries participating in the program are working to increase their share of green energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 20 percent by 2020, Weltec reports.
