Irvine, California-based Ener-Core Inc., won top presentation honors at Power-Gen Europe, held June 21-23 in Amsterdam, widely considered to be the most important and prestigious power tradeshow in Europe by industry leaders.

Ener-Core designs, manufactures and has deployed systems that generate base-load, clean power from polluting waste gases including methane. Ener-Core's patented Power Oxidizer turns one of the most potent pollution sources into a profitable, "always on" source of clean energy, according to the company.

Ener-Core’s paper: “Extending Renewable Electricity Generation for Decades at Closed Landfill Sites with Gas Below 30% Methane,” was selected as best paper within the category of Renewable Energy Strategy, Business & Integration. The annual Power-Gen Europe Best Paper Awards were announced at the closing ceremony of the three-day conference. Ten thousand power executives including 960 delegates from 103 countries attended this year’s conference.

Richard G. Baker, senior vice president, Power Division of PennWell, was on hand to present the award to Ener-Core’s CEO, Alain Castro. One hundred twenty-two papers were submitted for consideration at this year’s conference; from these submissions, Ener-Core’s paper was chosen as a finalist to present at the conference and ultimately selected as winner within its category. Winners from each category were selected on outstanding concept and content.

“Ener-Core is riding a wave of tremendous momentum with new customers, successful progress in scaling up of the size of our Power Oxidizer, entry into a new industry (ethanol/alcohol distilleries), and the kickoff of our international joint sales efforts with our licensee partner, Dresser-Rand,” says Ener-Core’s CEO, Alain Castro. “We are thrilled to be recognized for our technology and business objectives by the POWER-GEN conference, which is the marquee event for the power industry in Europe. This recognition will help us continue to inform companies that currently flare or vent their waste gases, including landfills, oil refineries, natural gas facilities, petrochemical plants and distilleries, among others, on how Ener-Core can enable them to profitably utilize their waste gas emissions to generate clean power for their facilities.”
