EtaPreShred 4000 Mobile is available in new crawler version.
Finland-based Metso Recycling has launched the new EtaPreShred 4000 Mobile, which the company says makes it easier to process all kinds of material in almost any location. The mobile units are now available in a new crawler version and have been designed to deliver improved performance and increased efficiency.
Henning Lindbjerg, vice president of waste recycling at Metso, explains, “The new, improved mobile units can be moved during operation and are easier to load and transport than their predecessors. They feature all the robustness and strength you’d expect from a Metso preshredder with the added benefits of being easier to operate, more efficient to run and easier to service, all of which helps to reduce running costs.”
Metso Recycling says its shredding technology is based on an aggressive knife design and open cutting table to provide outstanding performance when dealing with mixed and challenging materials. These key features make Metso EtaPreShred units resistant to wear caused by materials normally considered nonshreddable, including solid steel, reinforced concrete and rocks, the company says.
Metso says its new crawler version allows for on-site mobility. The total height of the new crawler unit is 1.6 feet (0.5 meters) lower, making it easier and cheaper to transport. The lower height also makes it easier to load the machine, as a smaller loader can operate it. The new crawler version also can be moved using a remote control during operation.
The new Cat C15, 402-kilowatt (kW) power pack on the EtaPreShred 4000 Mobile benefits from a longer service interval, increasing the time between servicing from 250 hours to 500 hours, representing a significant saving on service costs over the unit’s lifetime, according to the company.
The new units also include other changes that help aid servicing the machine. Lindbjerg says, “The new units have been designed to be easier to service in any location. Along with more space in the power pack, which allows better access for servicing, we’ve mounted a ladder on the cutting table to improve access for inspection.”
The new power pack cooler keeps the unit operational in ambient temperatures up to 113 degrees Fahrenheit, increasing the range of use. The improved cooler system also offers up to 5 percent energy savings, according to the company.
The mobile controller is designed specifically for mobile units, making the Metso EtaPreShred easier to operate. Features include a new touch-screen display with an improved display screen for improved visibility, especially outdoors in bright, sunny conditions, Metso says. The new controller allows the unit to be accurately adjusted to suit the material being processed, meaning that better results can now be achieved, says Metso.
All Metso EtaPreShredders feature asynchronous bidirectional shredding technology, designed to reduce wear and keep material flowing consistently. The Metso double hydrostatic drive is reliable under heavy loads and shocks, and all knives and exposed cutting table components are made of Hardox 500 wear-resistant steel for less wear and less downtime., the company says.
Metso PreShredders are commonly found in waste transfer stations, landfills, composting plants, wood recycling plants, recycling plants and at waste service providers.
Metso Recycling’s range of mobile shredders includes a variety of sizes, covering a wide range of capacities. Each model is available in a variety of mobility and shredding performance levels, with special models for specific types of material. Visit www.metso.com/recycling for more information.
