Waste management, construction and facility management company Eggersmann Group of Germany reports that it expects sales growth of more than 5 percent in 2015.
The company operates numerous construction, engineering and equipment companies, including Backhus and BRT Recycling Technologie GmbH.
At a July 2015 press conference hosted by the company, Chief Executives Karlgunter Eggersman and Thomas Hein discussed some of the company's achievements, including the construction of the Han Bogrov composting and biogas facility for the municipality of Sofia, Bulgaria. The facility began operations in 2014 and was designated "Building of the Year-Bulgaria" in that same year. The plant processes 24,000 metric tons per year of green waste for compost, and produces biogas from 20,000 metric tons per year of biological waste. Eggersmann Anlagenbau (EAB) served as general contractor for the project.
Additionally, EAB reports that it has been selected to build a household waste processing facility with a capacity of 410,000 metric tons per year for the city, with conveyor technology, rotary sieves and conveyor belt separators provided by Eggersman. The plant is expected to begin operations in August 2015.
The company also reports it continues construction of a recycling and refuse-derived fuel (RDF) production facility in Tel Aviv, Israel, slated for completion by early 2016. The integrated plant is expected to offer a capacity of 540,000 metric tons per year. Incoming material will comprise municipal solid waste (MSW) as well as commercial and industrial waste, which will be separated, recycled and used to produce RDF. The company says that the production output of 160,000 metric tons of RDF will be supplied to a nearby cement kiln.
Eggersmann also served as the contractor for a mechanical-biological waste treatment facility in Zary, Poland. Some equipment for the facility was also supplied by Eggersmann subsidiaries BRT, Backhus and EAB. The facility recently was commissioned after a two-year construction process.
"Zary is one of the large projects in which we use all of our synergies and were able to achieve a more than satisfactory result with our know-how in the most diverse of fields," says Eggersmann.
Eggersmann acquired waste processing equipment company Backhus in 2012, and recycling equipment company BRT in 2013. The company also reports that since May 2015, BRT has been working closely with Hartner Maschinenbau of Germany.
"The production portfolios of both companies are somewhat similar, but not identical, so that the cooperation constitutes successful expansion and allows us to use shared distribution channels in the future," Hein says.
